In Photos: Sandy leaves damage across Toronto

TORONTO – Superstorm Sandy ripped through Toronto for several hours Monday night and left damage that may not be cleaned up until Thursday.

Thousands of Torontonians without power may have to wait until Thursday for their lights to come back on, as Toronto Hydro crews work to repair damage caused by the storm.

Wind gusts of up to 90 km/h are to blame for widespread power outages across Greater Toronto and southern Ontario. Toronto Hydro says that as of 2 p.m. on Tuesday 32,000 of its customers are still without power.
In several areas across Toronto, trees snapped from their base and fell – sometimes hitting cars or power lines.

In Toronto’s west-end, a Staples sign fell and may have killed a middle-aged woman.
