Frances Sugar, accused of killing her 34-year old daughter Lindey Sugar south of Saskatoon in 2014, has been found not guilty of second-degree murder and manslaughter, the jury read on Wednesday in Saskatoon court.
During the verdict, members of the Sugar family yelled out their disapproval of the decision, cursing out loud before storming out of the courtroom.

The eight female, four male jury was given the options of an acquittal, second-degree murder, or manslaughter by judge Ron Mills. The verdict was unanimous.
Frances was charged with second-degree murder in 2014, after getting into a fight with Lindey on a rural road south of the city. The two were arguing outside of Lindey’s vehicle when the fight turned physical.
Lindey was stabbed in the neck, and later died of her injury at Royal University Hospital.

The defence argued that Frances acted in self-defence when she stabbed Lindey.
The Crown opposed, by saying Frances’ life was never threatened during the confrontation.
Earlier this week, Frances’ other daughter Tanya Sugar, told Global News in an interview she wanted her mother convicted.
