Murder trial starts in Saskatoon for mother accused of killing daughter

The murder trial of a Calgary woman accused of killing her daughter is underway in Saskatoon.

Frances Rose Sugar, 53, is charged with second-degree murder following the death of her daughter, Lindey Sugar, in June 2014.

Police said she was killed following a fight outside a vehicle just south of Saskatoon on June 23, 2014.

Lindey Sugar, 34, was rushed to Royal University Hospital where she was declared dead. She had ties to both Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Jury selection for the trial took place on Monday.

The trial is expected to last up to 10 days.
