‘Steady weekend’ for Prince Albert, Sask. police includes vehicle theft, shooting

A vehicle theft, shooting and a taxi robbery were some of the calls Prince Albert, Sask., police responded to in what they are calling a “steady weekend.”

Officers were called to the 800-block of 7th Street East on Saturday at around 3 a.m. where a man said he was robbed of his vehicle.

He told officers that a masked man and a woman armed with a gun approached him as he left his vehicle and forced him back into it.

They then drove him west of the city and forced him out of the vehicle before taking off.

Almost 48 hours later, officers spotted the stolen vehicle being driven in the 1200-block of 28th Street East.

An emergency vehicle stop took place and a man and two women were arrested.

They are charged with possession of stolen property.

On Sunday, police were called to the 2700-block of 1st Avenue East for a report that a man had been beat up and shot.

Officers arrived to find a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound.

He was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Then Monday around 1:30 a.m. CT, a cab driver reported he had been robbed in the 600-block of Branion Drive.

He told police a man armed with a gun took off on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers recovered a BB gun that they determined was used in the robbery.

A 22-year-old man was arrested following a search of the area by patrol officers and a police dog.

He is charged with carrying a concealed weapon, robbery, using an imitation firearm, possession of a firearm while prohibited and utter a death threat.

Police officials also said that 13 people were arrested over the weekend for being intoxicated in public.
