Three men killed in a plane crash in BC will be laid to rest this week.

A funeral for the fourth man killed, the pilot Jim Kruk, was held on Friday in Airdrie.

The men were killed on Oct. 13 when the Cessna Citation plane Kruk was flying crashed north of Kelowna shortly after takeoff. Former Alberta premier Jim Prentice was among those on board, along with friends Ken Gellatly and Sheldon Reid.

Ken Gellatly and Sheldon Reid will be remembered at separate services.

Gellatly, a Calgary optometrist, will have his funeral Monday at Grace Presbyterian Church. Reid, a Calgary businessman, will have his on Wednesday at Eden Brook Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home. Both services start at 2 p.m.

A state funeral for Jim Prentice will be held on Friday at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Calgary at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 28. It will be open to the public.

Prentice was Alberta’s 16th premier but held the position for less than eight months. He served until May 24, 2015.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Karen, three daughters and two grandchildren.

The investigation into the plane crash could take a year to complete.
