RCMP identify Alberta senior found dead in home, charge pair with first-degree murder

RCMP have identified the Bonnyville, Alta. senior found dead in his home on Oct. 16 as 83-year-old Alfred Wagner.

Police have also charged a man and a woman with first-degree murder.

Bonnyville RCMP said they were called to a home in the town Sunday afternoon, where they found a deceased elderly man. The death was deemed suspicious and the RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit was called in to lead the investigation.

An autopsy later determined Wagner was the victim of a homicide.

Earlier this week, Mounties found a truck – which they believed belonged to the victim and was missing from his home – on the Kehewin Cree Nation which is about 20 kilometres south of Bonnyville.

Frank James Frechman, 25, of the Bonnyville/Kehewin area was arrested near Edmonton Oct. 18 and charged.

Arizona Chastity Frenchman, 20, also of the Bonnyville/Kehewin area, was arrested in Edmonton Oct. 19 and charged.

Police confirmed it was a random act and “there does not appear to have been any previous relationship between the accused individuals and the victim.”

RCMP are not looking for anyone else in connection to the case at this time.
