Hedley’s Jacob Hoggard and Olympic gold medallist Rosie MacLennan in Giller bash

TORONTO – Olympic gold medal trampoline gymnast Rosie MacLennan and Hedley lead singer Jacob Hoggard have joined the lineup for next week’s Scotiabank Giller Prize gala.

MacLennan will introduce Montreal author Alix Ohlin’s nominated novel, “Inside,” at the Oct. 30 soiree that will be broadcast on CBC-TV from Toronto’s Ritz-Carlton hotel.

Meanwhile, Hoggard will sing an adapted version of Hedley’s tune “I Won’t Let You Go (Darling).”

He’ll be accompanied by a dance performance choreographed by Jorden Morris, former principal dancer with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet.

Previously announced presenters for the splashy literary event include CBC-TV personality Rick Mercer, “Sex and the City” star Kim Cattrall, actor Allan Hawco of “Republic of Doyle,” and opera great Measha Brueggergosman.

CBC Radio’s Jian Ghomeshi will host the Giller bash, which will award $50,000 to the author of the best Canadian novel or short story collection published in English.

The other finalists are Montreal’s Nancy Richler for “The Imposter Bride,” Montreal-based Kim Thuy for “Ru,” St. John’s-based Russell Wangersky for “Whirl Away” and Calgary-based Will Ferguson for “419.”
