Creepy clown headlines are making headlines across North America and while there haven’t been any sightings in the south Okanagan, school district 67 isn’t taking any chances.

A parent advisory letter was recently sent home with students addressing ‘clown related threats’. The advisory was produced by a group called Safer Schools Together and has been sent home with kids from numerous school districts across the province.

“It’s imperative that you talk to your children about reporting these threats if they see them on social media and bring them to the attention of school officials and/or law enforcement,” the advisory reads.

The advisory goes on to say students should be aware “if they engage in, or participate in any way, in this type of threat related behaviour they will experience discipline and/or criminal charges.”
