Pedestrian fatally struck by train in Chilliwack may have been wearing earbuds

Police are investigating whether earbuds were a factor in the death of a pedestrian who was struck by a train in Chilliwack on Sunday morning.

The victim was struck around 10:30 a.m. by a CP train on CN tracks near Eagle Landing Parkway.

RCMP said the pedestrian was likely wearing earbuds at the time and didn’t hear the train approach.

No name has been released as police are still trying to reach the victim’s next of kin.
