An 83-year-old woman who was killed when she was struck by a transit bus near West Edmonton Mall on Tuesday, is being remembered by her family as a woman “full of life” and “devoted to her family.”
“We’re just remembering her as a loving mother, a loving grandmother,” Bruce Clarke said of his late mother-in-law, Mary Lynch. “She was very active in the community, she volunteered with the food bank and was also very active in the church.”
Clarke added that Lynch had only recently taken up playing guitar and that her family is doing as well as they can while they mourn her loss.
“It’s a difficult time for everybody involved,” he said on Saturday. “(It’s a) sudden and tragic event.
“We want to extend our thoughts as well to the other people that were involved in the incident including the driver and first responders and other witnesses.”

On Tuesday afternoon, police said a pedestrian was hit by a transit bus at 87 Avenue and 169 Street.
According to police, witnesses said the woman was lawfully crossing in a marked crosswalk when she was struck by the bus.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
A “Mass of Christian Burial” will be held Thursday at Providence Centre, where Lynch volunteered.
