Saskatoon police are currently involved in a standoff in the 500-block of Avenue Q North.

An armed man has barricaded himself inside a home following a report of break in at around 9:15 a.m. CT.

There are reports that a gun has been fired inside the home.

No injuries have been reported.

Member of the crisis negotiation team have been called in and are attempting to contact the man.

Schools in the area have been notified of the standoff.

Howard Coad School has been placed under a perimeter lockdown. All activities within the school will continue as normal, but children will not be allowed outside for recess and all visitors must enter through the front doors.

A spokesperson with Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools said St. Maria Goretti and St. Edward schools are being secured.

Police are asking people to avoid the area and to follow instructions from officers at the scene.
