Charges pending against driver in rural rollover near Didsbury

Charges are pending against a 38-year-old driver after his car crashed into a farmer's field Wednesday morning,. Global News

RCMP said charges will be laid after a 38-year-old driver crashed into a farmer’s field along Highway 22, west of Didsbury early Wednesday morning.

Shortly before 3 a.m., RCMP were called to an intersection at Highway 582 following reports as westbound car failed to stop at the intersection and was catapulted into a field. The crash prompted an investigation into suspected impaired driving.

The driver was pinned under the vehicle and required extrication by emergency crews. He was taken to hospital by ground ambulance.

The passenger in the car, a 29-year-old man, suffered significant injuries and was transported to a Calgary-area hospital by STARS Air Ambulance in serious condition.

A 23-year-old woman also suffered minor injuries in the crash.

RCMP said the driver is facing charges of dangerous driving causing bodily harm and criminal negligence causing bodily harm.
