A new production studio officially opened in Surrey on Tuesday.
Skydance Studios will be used to film a new Netflix series titled Altered Carbon and more projects could be on the way. The studio is expected to generate 400 jobs.
“We began looking for a space a little over a year ago and we are very fortunate to find this one,” Skydance Studios CEO David Ellison said.

The 75,000-square-foot facility used to be home to Pacific Press, which shuttered its doors last year. Tuesday’s announcement was welcome news for Surrey which, according to Mayor Linda Hepner, has invested in the new economy.
“I think that it’s a natural fit,” Hepner said. “I think it falls in very nicely with the theme in British Columbia generally around creative industries and around new technology industries.”
The cameras will roll at Skydance Studios starting next week with full production up and running by November.
