A 14-year-old from Chilliwack is in custody after a violent series of confrontations in West Kelowna on Tuesday.
Police allege the teen first threatened a B.C. Transit driver with a knife and then slapped him before making her way to a nearby Shell gas station.
Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey said it was around 8:45 a.m. that the young woman approached a man in the parking lot of the gas station and pulled out the knife, demanding he give her his car.
“The man was able to retreat inside his vehicle, while his wife found safety inside the gas station’s convenience store, where she locked herself inside with the lone employee,” O’Donaghey said in a news release.

No other customers were at the gas station at the time.
Police got to the scene and found the woman dressed in ‘very revealing’ attire and believed to be under the influence of an intoxicating substance, pacing in the parking lot.
“When verbally confronted by police, the youth threw the knife towards an officer and ran from the officers on foot,” O’Donaghey said.
No one at the gas station and none of the officers were injured.
“After a short foot chase, the young woman was taken into police custody without further incident,” O’Donaghey said.
The teenager remains in custody and is facing potential charges including armed robbery, assault with a weapon and assaulting a police officer with a weapon.
Police are concerned there may have been other individuals or citizens the teen may have also approached.
