WINNIPEG — The Winnipeg Jets and the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra (WSO) are partnering to record the soundtrack for the season’s game opening video at the MTS Centre this fall.

“Our city is so full of energy, and to partner the arts and our city’s most iconic sports team is what I think Winnipeg is all about,” WSO Music Director Alexander Mickelthwate said. “It’s been a thrill to work with Mark Chipman and his team on this project.”

Hollywood composer, Shawn Pierce will write the score.

“The Jets told us they wanted something epic and we immediately thought of Shawn Pierce. I don’t think we can describe his music as anything other than,” Mickelthwate said.

The music will be recorded Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Centennial Concert Hall.

The Winnipeg Jets season opener takes places Thursday, Oct. 13 against the Carolina Hurricanes.
