Doug Ford has announced he will be re-entering politics “within about a year” and took aim at Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

“I’ve never said I was going to be Prime Minister, but if you put me up against Justin Trudeau – a camp counsellor and part-time drama teacher – that answers everything,” Ford said Monday morning outside of his mother Diane’s house in Etobicoke.

“He is not qualified to be Prime Minister,” he said, while praising the qualifications of former Liberal Prime Ministers Paul Martin and Jean Chretien.

Ford also said he will be running for political office “as sure as I’m standing here,” but hasn’t announced which level of government he plans to seek office for.

“Or the Premier that runs up over a $300 billion deficit. Or a new Prime Minister running around taking pictures with Vogue rather than worrying about jobs and the finances of this country, running up billions of dollars of debt within his first few months.”

Ford announced Monday he will be releasing a new book entitled Ford Nation: Two Brothers, One Vision—The True Story of the People’s Mayor.

The book is authored by himself and his brother, former Toronto mayor Rob Ford. It will be released Nov. 22. He also said various members of the family contributed to the book.

Ford said he looks forward to speaking with people across the country and said the book will be an “eye-opener.”

“It’s no holds barred with the media. There’s no politician safe in this country,” he said.

“When this comes out, from the Prime Minister to the Premier to the Mayor – it’s going to rock the media world. It’s going to rock the political world.”

Ford is scheduled to appear on The Morning Show Wednesday morning.
