Toronto parking enforcement officer allegedly assaulted while writing ticket

A man has been arrested after a Toronto Police Service parking enforcement officer was allegedly assaulted while writing a ticket.

According to police, the officer was checking vehicles at Doris Avenue and Forest Laneway, near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue East, around 12 a.m. Thursday.

The officer started writing a ticket for a parked van that was blocking a disabled ramp and partially blocking a fire route, police said.

The van’s owner allegedly got into an argument and assaulted the officer.

Police said the officer had minor injuries.

Jeffrey Wingrowich, 40, of Toronto has been charged with assault.

He is scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Oct. 20.
