Bank clerk struck in head with gun during bank robbery

Police are investigating after three masked men held up a Halifax bank Thursday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m., Halifax Regional Police say the three suspects, one armed with a handgun, entered the Bank of Montreal on Nine Mile Drive.

Police say the masked men entered the location and demanded money, with one of the suspects hitting a clerk in the head with a gun.

The men then fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money in a grey Mazda 3.

The clerk was treated by paramedics at the scene, but was not sent to hospital.

Suspect Arrested

Just before 10 p.m,  a police unit located a vehicle matching the description of the vehicle used in the bank robbery in the Spryfield area.

Officers then observed three males on Lemon Walk who may have been involved in the robbery.

The males fled on foot as police approached, one was eventually taken into custody. The two others were able to escape into a wooded area and are still on the run.
