OneRepublic to headline 2016 Grey Cup halftime show

The Canadian Football League announced Wednesday that OneRepublic will headline the halftime show at the 104th Grey Cup on November 27 in Toronto at BMO Field.

Canada’s biggest annual sporting event will be broadcast live, beginning at 6 p.m. ET.

“We are honoured that the CFL invited us to perform at this year’s Grey Cup! Canada is a special place for us, and getting the chance to perform and watch great football live will be a blast,” said the band in a statement.

“OneRepublic is one of the biggest bands in the world – they have played for millions of fans internationally and we are thrilled to have them at this year’s Grey Cup in Toronto,” added Christina Litz, SVP Marketing and Content, CFL.

“This promises to be quite a show for the fans attending Grey Cup at BMO Field and for the millions of others watching in Canada and around the world.”

OneRepublic has released two new singles, Wherever I Go (May 2016) and Kids (August 2016). Both singles will be on OneRepublic’s upcoming fourth album entitled Oh My My, set for release on Oct. 7, 2016.

The album will be the follow-up to OneRepublic’s 2013 album Native, which debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Top 200 chart and has sold over five million units worldwide. It produced the hit singles If I Lose Myself, Feel Again, Love Runs Out and Counting Stars, which reached No. 1 in 54 countries and has sold over 10 million downloads.

OneRepublic, led by singer and songwriter Ryan Tedder, guitarist Zach Filkins, drummer Eddie Fisher, guitarist Drew Brown, and bassist Brent Kutzle, released their debut album Dreaming Out Loud in 2007. The album included the single Apologize, which shattered digital sales and airplay records worldwide and received a Grammy nomination.

The Grey Cup will be presented by Shaw and the halftime show is sponsored by Wind Mobile.
