Second-degree murder charge laid in Sask. First Nation death

A 34-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge after a woman was found dead on the Cote First Nation in August.

On Aug. 13, a 20-year-old woman was found dead at a residence on the reserve after Kamsack RCMP received a report of an unresponsive woman.

Morgan Cote, 34, also from the Cote First Nation, was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree murder in connection with the woman’s death.

Cote appeared in court Friday. He remains in custody until his next court appearance on Sept. 6 in Kamsack Provincial Court.

The victim’s name has not been released.
