A 61-year-old Kelowna man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after colliding with a vehicle Monday night.
Officials were called to the scene shortly after 10:30 p.m. to the 500 block of Harvey Avenue, near Boston Pizza.
Cst. Jesse O’Donaghey said the driver of a brown Toyota Corolla was about to turn right onto Harvey Avenue in Kelowna from a parking lot, when her vehicle collided with a cyclist.
“Witnesses at the scene told police that the cyclist was observed riding southbound along the sidewalk and that the cyclist was operating without a helmet or lights,” O’Donaghey said.

The 19-year-old Kelowna woman driving the vehicle stayed at the scene.
RCMP are reminding cyclists about some safety tips, especially when riding at night.
“RCMP would like to remind cyclists to wear a helmet that fits and ride with the flow of traffic, never against,“ O’Donaghey said.
“It’s equally important to ensure that you are clearly visible to drivers, this can be achieved by wearing bright reflective clothing, by displaying a white light to the front of your bicycle and a red light to the rear.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident and has yet to speak to police, is asked to contact Kelowna RCMP.
