WATCH ABOVE: In 2013 the ATB Classic at Country Hills was cancelled due to flooding, but they were able to get the event in later in the summer. This year’s event was shifted to this week to fill the void of the wildfire cancelled Fort McMurray event. It was deja vu at Country Hills Golf Club for the final round of the ATB Financial Classic tournament Sunday.

Due to a lack of improvement in the conditions on the course from rain that fell overnight, the last round needed to be cancelled after a long weather delay.

In 2013, when Calgary was in a state of emergency due to historic floods, PGA Tour Canada officials also cancelled the golf tournament.

The early finish wrapped up the tournament at 54 holes, leaving England’s Charlie Bull as the champion.

“I would have loved the opportunity to get a shot at the title but at the end of the day, T2 – I’m very happy with that finish. It’s two top three’s in my last three events…overall I’m happy with the finish even though it’s a little disappointing,” Austin Connelly, who was looking for his first professional win this week, said.

The ATB Classic is the eighth event of the 2016 Mackenzie Tour – PGA TOUR Canada season.
