Manitoba midwife program to continue

WINNIPEG — A deal has been reached that will let students in Manitoba’s midwifery program continue their studies.

The University of Manitoba has a new agreement with McMaster University in Hamilton, Ont.

It will allow Manitoba students who competed their first year in the program to go into second year at the University of Manitoba, as transfer students from McMaster under guidance from that university.

They will also do clinical rotations in Manitoba communities.

Manitoba’s four-year program has been in turmoil, and students were told earlier this year that second-year courses would not be offered.
