A crack in the floor at Montreal’s old Berri bus terminal spurred a 911 call at about 4 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.
The crack made the floor drop 10 inches (25 centimetres), according to Montreal police spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant.
The building was not evacuated and there were no injuries or delays, Brabant said.
The circumference of the crack is still undetermined, but Brabant said engineers evaluated the scene and decided the area was safe.
He said there was sand below.
“The engineers decided that the structure was solid enough to continue all operations,” Brabant said.
Berri Street between De Maisonneuve Boulevard and Ontario Street was closed for some time, but reopened at around 6 p.m.
According to Brabant, more evaluations will be made in the next few days.
