WINNIPEG — Raccoons are cute and cunning creatures who are known to love the smell of food coming from garbage and compost.
The irresistible scents get some raccoons in sticky situations, such as one specific critter at Kildonan Park this past week.

Rod and Myra Golebioski were walking in the park and heard a noise coming from one of the garbage bins.
“We stopped to listen and sure enough this little guy was caught having dinner [and] poked his or her head up,” Rod said.
“We caught him in the cookie jar, not just his hand in the cookie jar.”
On the Manitoba Conservation website, it says if you encounter a raccoon, you should never feed, disturb or handle it, especially any young, as the mother is usually nearby and can be viciously protective.
