The City of Toronto is looking to pull the plug on the Pokemon Go party at the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal.

The park area immediately surrounding the Toronto Island departure point has around a half-dozen “pokestops” and “gyms” that have lured big crowds.

But the turnout is proving too much for the city.

While the parks service is pleased with the number of people having fun chasing the virtual creatures in green spaces, it said the terminal hubbub is creating “significant challenges” for ferry operations in a federally regulated transportation area that takes 25,000 passengers a day.

“This level of use and potential congestion is not sustainable,” spokesman Matthew Cutler said in an email.

Cutler said the city has asked developer Niantic to “remove or relocate” the virtual beacons to other areas.
