One person is dead and another has been hurt in a crash on Highway 40 near Cut Knife, Sask.

The crash happened Monday evening three kilometres west of the community.

A 19-year-old woman from Altona, Man. was declared dead at the scene. The 18-year-old male driver, also from Altona, was taken to hospital with unknown injuries.

No names have been released by police.

The highway in the area was closed for several hours while Cut Knife RCMP carried out its investigation.
