Epcor restores power to large section of south Edmonton

Electricity provider Epcor said it was working to restore power to customers in a massive chunk of Alberta’s capital after they were left in the dark shortly before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

By Tuesday evening, Epcor said it was no longer dealing with any power outages.

According to the company’s website, the outage was impacting customers from 66 Street to 184 Street and from 41 Avenue South to 9 Avenue South.

A company spokesperson said it wasn’t entirely clear exactly how many customers had been impacted but did confirm the outage was related to the weather.

Active weather systems had been moving throughout parts of Edmonton Tuesday. Late afternoon, loud cracks of thunder could be heard in the city’s south side.
