A man has been shot outside the Sûreté du Québec headquarters in Vaudreuil-Dorion.
The incident happened around 1 p.m. during a police chase.
Officers were reportedly trying to stop a driver for violating road rules, but the chase did not end until reaching SQ headquarters on Harwood Boulevard.
“I’ve never seen this in my life,” witness Isabelle Jubert told Global News, adding it looked like something out of the U.S.
The man reportedly got out of the vehicle and opened fire at the officers.
“Then he just decided to pull a Tony Montana and walk up to the cops and then that’s when they laced him a few times in the belly and in the middle, he just fell on the floor,” said Arman Moradi, who works nearby and witnessed the incident.
Moradi said he saw a woman come out of the car as well, police were yelling at her to surrender.
Moradi said she looked unarmed.

Moradi said the suspect was taken away in an ambulance.
“I saw a third guy getting pulled away in a stretcher, which makes me think he was in it somehow, but he wasn’t back here,” said Moradi.
A team of eight officers from Quebec’s new independent investigation bureau (BEI) have taken over the investigation.
They are in charge of looking into all cases where police open fire.
In a statement, the BEI said they don’t fear for the suspect’s life.
As the investigation is still ongoing, the BEI are asking any witnesses to come forward and contact them through their website.
