Winnipeg’s Victoria Tachinski is heading home with a bronze medal from the 2016 IAAF World U20 Championships in Poland.
The Vincent Massey Collegiate student helped Canada to a third place finish in the women’s 4x400m relay. The country’s time of 3:32.25 was also good for a new national junior record.
Tachinski placed sixth late last week in the women’s 800m event. The 17-year-old was the second youngest athlete in the race. She finished in second place in her semifinal heat to qualify for the final. Tachinski broke the Canadian under-18 outdoor 800m record last month. She also holds national youth indoor records in the 300m, 400m and 600m distances.
Tachinski still has two years of junior eligibility remaining.
