Hundreds of racers from B.C., Alberta and even the United States are at Thunder Mountain Speedway this weekend for Kelowna’s Fastest Street Car Shoot Out.
“They all have to be registered and insured,” race organizer Jordan Lazic said.
The cars are street legal but they are souped up. The race organizer said a typical family car will have about 150 horsepower while the cars being raced this weekend have up to 2000 horsepower.
Admission to watch the races is ten dollars.
Organizers are hoping to see a thousand spectators for the finals on Sunday.
“It’s getting bigger every year,” Lazic said. “We’ve got them worried about where to park us and that’s a good problem to have.
