WINNIPEG — A massive storm ripped through southern Manitoba Wednesday evening, leaving around 48,000 hydro customers without power.
According to Manitoba Hydro, that number has dropped to 17,000 as of Thursday morning.
In Winnipeg, there were around 16,000 hydro customers without power Wednesday evening. That number is at 5,665 customers as of Thursday afternoon.

Officials told Global News that number is supposed to drop significantly as the morning progresses.
However, certain areas will remain without power throughout the day due to fallen trees or downed power lines.

Manitoba Hydro said hydro customers in the Selkirk, St. Andres and Parkdale region will be out of power until Friday.
Power will also be out until Friday in Long Plain First Nation and areas in Whiteshell Provincial Park.

In Winnipeg there is a lot of downed hydro lines and damaged poles. Crews will be working to restore them into Thursday everning.

An apartment complex on Sinclair Street has lost part of its roof. There are no reports of injuries.
Manitobans took to social media to share the storm damage in their area including multiple trees that fell over.
Tornado warnings have ended for the Portage la Prairie area following an intense storm that moved through southern Manitoba. The end of the storm brought a double rainbow.
