Bizarre Taylor Swift memorial honours ‘death’ of singer’s career over Kanye dispute
A graffiti artist in Melbourne, Australia has created a bizarre “In loving memory" mural for Taylor Swift, suggesting the singer's career is dead after her recent online battle with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West – Jul 20, 2016

People are really taking this whole Kim Kardashian-Kanye West-Taylor Swift battle seriously.

Nowhere is that more apparent than in Melbourne, Australia, where it appears a local graffiti artist has painted a “memorial” honouring Swift’s career.

Its creator, Lushsux, is part of Banksy’s crew. He famously turned some of Kardashian’s selfies into wall art earlier this year.

The spray-painted piece features an oversized image of the 26-year-old’s face alongside the words, “In loving memory of… Taylor Swift, 1989-2016.” (Many were quick to point out that the cursive handwriting actually makes it look like the name alongside the mural is “Taylor Smith,” but clearly — given the head shot — folks know who it’s about.)

Underneath the graphic there’s a tag that calls for folks to “respect the dead.”

Swift was, apparently, quick to respond to the artwork through her lawyer.

One can only presume the mural popped up as a result of Kardashian’s release of a video showing Swift doing something she once claimed she never did: speak to West about his song Famous. (Catch up on the whole dramatic saga here.)

Since then, people have been saying the blond beauty’s career is “over” — largely because she’s sold herself on being wholesome and kind when Kardashian’s Snapchat implies otherwise.

Elaine Lui over at Lainey Gossip put the current sentiment toward the songstress best: “She’s in retreat. She is in serious retreat… In accusing him of blindsiding her, she never bothered to give us the entire picture. She never bothered to tell us that Kanye was actually really nice to her on the phone. She never bothered to share that he shared some of his lyrics. Most importantly, she didn’t specifically share that she UNDERSTOOD his point of view.” (You can read her full post here.)

Here are more thoughts on the situation from Twitter.
