Severe thunderstorm watch ended for Southern B.C.

A severe thunderstorm watch has been ended for the southern half of the province.

Environment Canada had issued a warning early morning on July 18 for the South Thompson, Okanogan Valley, and Nicola regions.

A severe thunderstorm warning had also been issued for the Kootenay Lake area.

Conditions were favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that were going to be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.

“Under its influence the atmosphere remains unstable especially over the southern half of the province,” says Schalle. “As a result, widespread showers and thunderstorms will develop across the region,”said Global BC meteorologist Yvonne Schalle

Schalle said the unsettled pattern will continue into the middle of the work week.
