Project Baldwin nets 17 arrests in GTA-wide drugs and firearms investigation

Durham Regional Police say 17 people have been arrested and 113 charges laid in connection to a GTA-wide drugs and firearms investigation nicknamed Project Baldwin.

The investigation, which police say began in January, resulted in 21 search warrants in York Region, Peel Region, Toronto and Durham Region during the past week.

Authorities say more than $500,000 worth of drugs, including cocaine, pharmaceuticals and marijuana, were seized as well as more than $340,000 in cash.

A ballistic vest, two handguns, a machine gun, more than 1,300 rounds of ammunition and eight vehicles were also confiscated.

Those arrested face multiple charges including drug and gun-related offences.
