‘Project Neebing’ nabs 14 in Durham Region drug trafficking investigation

Police say 14 people have been arrested as a result of multiple predawn raids across Southern Ontario Thursday morning in connection to a drug investigation nicknamed Project Neebing.

Durham Regional Police say 16 search warrants were issued as part of an operation to dismantle a “high-level” drug trafficking network.

Police say raids were conducted in 16 different locations from Belleville to Mississauga.

Investigators say two operations took place in Toronto, one at 191 Lisgar Street around 5 a.m. near Dufferin Street and Queen Street West in the city’s Little Portugal neighbourhood and another in the area of Lakeshore Boulevard and Parklawn Road.

Police say items seized in the raids included two handguns, four long guns, cocaine, hashish, marijuana, cash, vehicles and the discovery of a clandestine drug laboratory.

Details on suspects and charges are expected to be released at a later date.
