Saskatoon Police Service (SPS) confirmed they received a tip about the whereabouts of a teenage girl accused of killing a six-week-old baby this past weekend.
Police knew the 16-year-old was unlawfully at large in the early morning hours of July 2. Officers attended one home, but found nothing.

That afternoon, a cousin of the baby’s mother called police, sharing two possible locations.
Officers didn’t respond because they didn’t know which spot the teen would be at.
SPS said they asked the cousin to phone back when she knew the exact location, but they never received another call.

At around 7 a.m. CT on July 3, patrol officers responded to the injured baby boy in the 200-block of Waterloo Crescent. The infant was taken to Royal University Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The teenager has been charged with second-degree murder. Her name cannot be released under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
This is the ninth homicide investigation of 2016 in Saskatoon.
