Charges laid in West Kelowna shooting

RCMP say charges have been laid following a shooting in West Kelowna Monday night.

West Kelowna RCMP responded to a report of a shot fired inside a home in the 700 block of Spland Road around 11:16 p.m.

When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old woman suffering from a single gunshot wound.

The woman was rushed to hospital with life threatening injuries.  She remains in serious but stable condition.

WATCH:  Bloodied woman taken out of West Kelowna home

A 28-year-old West Kelowna man has now been charged with the shooting.

Evan Anthony Swite was taken before a Judicial Justice of the Peace, and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a weapon while prohibited.

He remains in custody pending a court appearance July 18.
