Family and friends of a baby boy who was killed in Saskatoon gathered Tuesday evening for a candlelight vigil.
Nikosis Jace, who was six-weeks-old, died in hospital Sunday morning after being found injured at the family home in the College Park East neighbourhood.

Many in attendance at the vigil held signs that said “Justice for Nikosis Jace.”
The boy’s grandfather, Jeffrey Longman, thanked the crowd for attending, and had words for his grandson.
“I know the creator has him in his loving arms, holding him. Now he’s watching over me,” Longman told the gathering.
A 16-year-old teen girl has been charged with second-degree murder in Jace’s death.

She made a second court appearance on Tuesday in Saskatoon provincial court.
The teen, who cannot be named under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, had escaped open custody from Kilburn Hall Youth Centre on Saturday, July 2.

She was serving a 10-month sentence on several charges, including assault, robbery and arson.
Outside of court on Tuesday, Longman said they didn’t know the teen or her criminal history.
He said his daughter’s met the teen in downtown Saskatoon and brought her home after she told them she had nowhere to go.
Longman said he raised his children to help others in need and indicated that they were trying to “help out a person that is lost to society and the world.”
