One person had to be extricated from their vehicle after it was struck by a tire that fell off a tractor-trailer on Highway 401 early Monday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the 911 call after 6 a.m. on the eastbound express lanes just east of Highway 427.
Images from the scene show the front hood of a white Honda SUV heavily damaged.
Peel EMS say the male occupant was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

There’s no word yet if any charges will be laid against the driver.
The tractor-trailer is operated by Port Perry Trailer Rentals, a division of Robert E. Lee Enterprises Inc., and has a “satisfactory” safety rating, according to the Ministry of Transportation.
