One person had to be extricated from their vehicle after it was struck by a tire that fell off a tractor-trailer on Highway 401 early Monday morning.
Emergency crews responded to the 911 call after 6 a.m. on the eastbound express lanes just east of Highway 427.
Images from the scene show the front hood of a white Honda SUV heavily damaged.
Peel EMS say the male occupant was taken to hospital with minor injuries.
Ontario Provincial Police say two tires actually came off the tractor-trailer but only one managed to hit the vehicle.
There’s no word yet if any charges will be laid against the driver.
The tractor-trailer is operated by Port Perry Trailer Rentals, a division of Robert E. Lee Enterprises Inc., and has a “satisfactory” safety rating, according to the Ministry of Transportation.
