Man arrested after driving erratically on Highway 1

RCMP were called several times about a vehicle driving erratically on Highway 1 near Redcliff, Alta. Friday.

RCMP said the vehicle was seen travelling 163 km/hr in a 110 km zone.

Mounties stopped the man driving the vehicle travelling westbound on Highway 1 near Box Springs Road.

RCMP said the driver stopped due to a flat tire, got out of his vehicle and approached the driver of another vehicle parked close by and attempted to forcefully remove the driver from their vehicle.

When RCMP approached the suspect to stop the attempted robbery, he did not cooperate.

The suspect, Daniel Joseph Landry, was eventually arrested after a struggle with police.

Landry, who is from British Columbia, was charged with the following; Attempted robbery, fail to remain at the accident scene, dangerous driving, assaulting a Police Officer, resisting arrest, and attempting to disarm a Police Officer.

Landry will appear in court July 5.

No injuries were reported in the incident.
