Time to give back to North Shore Rescue during this weekend’s Rescue Fest event

North Shore Rescue crews volunteer their own time and their own safety to save people who have run into trouble on the North Shore mountains, and now it’s the community’s turn to give back.

The crew is throwing Rescue Fest on Saturday, June 25 to support the Tim Jones Legacy Fund, which helps keep North Shore Rescue operating. Of their $500,000 annual budget, NSR must raise over 65 per cent each year to fund rescue operations, training and equipment.

It’s one of the most important days of the year for the team who have already responded to 52 rescue calls this year, with the busy season just beginning.

They responded to 132 calls in 139, and the average is about 100 a year.

Deep Cover Brewers + Distillers have partnered with North Shore Rescue to produce a signature beer to honour the legacy of former leader Tim Jones. This is the third year a Legacy Lager is produced for the event, and this year’s is said to be a crisp, seasonal American lager featuring hints of grain sweetness and light citrus.

Rescue Fest will feature live music, food trucks, kids’ activities, and a silent auction along with the beer. Tickets are also available for the raffle prize, a helicopter picnic courtesy of Talon Helicopters and Raglans Bistro.

The party at the pier will take place at Shipbuilder’s Square in North Vancouver from 5 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $10 or by donation and are available online.

The Tim Jones Legacy Fund has raised over $580,000 in the last two years.
