MONTREAL — Focus Montreal introduces Montrealers to people who are shaping our community, bringing their stories into focus.

It airs on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and on Sunday at 7:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and at midnight.

Women entrepreneurs from Fondation Montreal Inc. 

Fondation Montreal Inc. is holding a weekend focused on increasing the number of women entrepreneurs.

Startup Weekend Femmes Montreal is a networking event – but also a training event for budding entrepreneurs- is being held July 8th-10th at Sid Lee headquarters on Queen Street in Griffintown.

Global Montreal’s senior anchor Jamie Orchard speaks to Liette Lamonde, managing director of Fondation Montreal Inc. who is joined by one of the speakers at the event, Genevieve Begin, Popupcamp founder.

Accessibility advocate Laurence Parent wins Tanis Doe Award

Jamie Orchard speaks to Laurence Parent, an extraordinary woman who has dedicated the last decade of her life to exposing the inequalities in public transportation accessibility.

Last year, Parent who is a wheelchair user herself, conducted a series of what she calls “wheeling interviews in Montreal and New York City” to explore the obstacles people with disabilities face in getting around.

That work earned her this year’s Tanis Doe Award given by the Canadian Disability Studies Association.
