Accessibility advocate Laurence Parent wins Tanis Doe Award

Jamie Orchard speaks to Laurence Parent, an extraordinary woman who has dedicated the last decade of her life to exposing the inequalities in public transportation accessibility.

Last year, Parent who is a wheelchair user herself, conducted a series of what she calls “wheeling interviews in Montreal and New York City” to explore the obstacles people with disabilities face in getting around.

That work earned her this year’s Tanis Doe Award given by the Canadian Disability Studies Association.
