Man pulled from Spruce Grove house fire by RCMP now facing several charges

EDMONTON – RCMP were responding to reports of an assault early Sunday morning when they arrived to find a residence engulfed in flames.

It happened around 1 a.m. Sunday at a trailer home on Calahoo Road in Spruce Grove.

Officers initially had difficulty trying to get into the home, once they did, they found a 40-year old man inside.

The man was treated by awaiting paramedics, before being arrested and taken into custody in regards to the assault.

No one else was injured, although four pets died in the fire.

There’s no word on the cause.

Kenneth Craven of Spruce Grove now faces several charges including two counts of aggravated assault and uttering threats in relation to offences against an intimate partner.

Spruce Grove RCMP also executed several arrest warrants and found Craven was wanted on three counts of failing to comply with a probation order and two counts of failing to attend court.

Craven was taken into custody where he will remain until his next court appearance which is scheduled for June 20.
