Social media posts flooded various platforms shortly before 10 p.m. Thursday night as posters reported seeing the rock legend Meat Loaf collapse on stage in Edmonton.

The 68-year-old American rock musician, whose real name is Michael Lee Aday, was performing at the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.

Edmonton Fire and Rescue confirmed crews did respond to a call at the concert venue Thursday night, and said Alberta Health Services took the lead on the call once they arrived.

AHS confirmed they took a patient from the Jubilee to a hospital in Edmonton Thursday night and said the patient had “a fainting episode.”

The singer had cancelled performances in Moose Jaw, Sask., and Calgary earlier this week, citing ill health.

One concertgoer’s video appears to show the musician crouching down before dropping his microphone stand and falling to the ground.

He has collapsed on stage before. In 2011, medics rushed to his aid during a concert in Pittsburgh but he got up and finished the show. In 2013, he collapsed at Wembley Arena in London and was admitted to hospital.
