Tragic end in search for young woman after car crash
WATCH ABOVE: The search for a young woman following a car accident in Fredericton two days earlier, has come to a tragic ending. Police confirm the body was recovered from the St. John River today. Andrew Cromwell reports – Jun 12, 2016

A dramatic crash reported to Fredericton police just before 4 a.m. Friday has divers searching the waters of the Saint John River near St. Anne’s Point Drive.

A man was taken to hospital by ambulance following the crash and later released.

Police say they have reason to believe there was a second occupant of the vehicle — an adult female — who remains unaccounted for.

An underwater recovery team was dispatched to search the area.

The car left the road off St. Anne’s Point Drive near Regent Street, then careened through a wooded area near a small dock for recreational boats, police say.

The vehicle was extensively damaged.
