RCMP have confirmed that an arson being investigated in Leduc County is the same scene where officers were investigating a homicide in late April.
Mounties said officers joined fire crews to respond to a blaze at Highway 625 and Range Road 240 at around 1 a.m. Friday morning. The fire destroyed a home and its garage.
According to police, fire investigators determined the blaze had been set intentionally and the Leduc General Investigation Section continues to investigate.
On the evening of April 25, police were called to investigate after a 34-year-old man was found dead in the same home by some acquaintances.
The Edmonton RCMP Major Crimes Unit confirmed they were investigating his death as a homicide and the victim was later identified as Ryan Ross of Leduc.

Gordon Robinson, 32, was later arrested in Edmonton and charged with first-degree murder in connection with Ross’ death.
RCMP have since said they’re not looking for any other suspects.
“The residence has actually been vacant for some time but it was previously being occupied by victim Ryan Ross,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Sharon Franks said about the home damaged in Friday’s fire.
