Calgary police identify man killed in Marlborough Park assault

A 24-year-old Calgary man has been identified as the victim of a fatal assault in the community of Marlborough Park on Sunday night.

Officers were called to the 5500 block of Maddock Drive N.E. at around 9:15 p.m. for reports of a disturbance.

Upon arrival, police discovered Tyler Sanderson suffering from serious injuries after being assaulted. He was rushed to hospital but later died.

Police said Monday that Sanderson’s death was the seventh homicide of 2016.

Investigators haven’t released his cause of death, but said they don’t believe it was a random attack.

Police are searching for “people of interest” as the investigation continues.
