WINNIPEG — Police were kept busy Thursday night with a number of violent and serious incidents in the city.
More than 100 calls to police were left waiting for service.
“For much of the evening more than 100 calls were left waiting for service that we just couldn’t get to,” Winnipeg police Cst. Robert Carver said at a media briefing Friday.
Some of the calls keeping officers busy included a homicide allegedly involving a military-style assault rifle, a high speed chase and a commercial robbery that ended in a high speed chase.

According to a tweet from Winnipeg police, the three major incidents of the night required 35 units in the span of an hour and a half.

Four police vehicles were damaged in the high speed chases.
